SNP and IFFO RS sign agreement for the sustainability of the Peruvian fishing industry

The National Fisheries Society (SNP) and the IFFO RS Global Responsible Supply Standard signed an agreement for the sustainability of the Peruvian fishing industry.

Among the objectives of the agreement is to make visible the good sustainability practices that the Peruvian fishing industry carries out in its processes, which show the real commitment that is taken with the care of the sea and the environment, and where it maintains the leadership.

Another objective is to exchange information to ensure the reliability and applicability of the IFFO RS standard, which aims to assure the value chains of balanced and nutraceutical foods, that the raw materials they acquire are of responsible origin and manufacturing.

On the other hand, the agreement seeks to identify bad practices in the fishing sector and make them visible, in order to deal with them effectively.

The agreement was signed by Cayetana Aljovín, president of the Board of Directors of the SNP; and Libby Woodhacht, Executive Director of IFFO RS, within the framework of the 59th Annual Meeting of the Marine Ingredients Industry worldwide, which is held in Shanghai (China) and where more than 400 delegates from companies and organizations linked to it participated sector.
